Before you start Python and basic PyTorch A free Colab or Kaggle GPU notebook for diffusion and CLIP experiments NVIDIA's stated prerequisite: a basic understanding of generative AI Week 1 · 8 h
Deep learning fundamentals Explain CNNs, transformers and Vision Transformers (ViT) and how images become patch embeddings Explain training basics (loss, optimisers, overfitting, transfer learning) well enough to read a training curve Hands-on: Run the Fundamentals of Deep Learning transfer-learning notebook on a free GPU and log accuracy for frozen vs fine-tuned backbones.
Use: NVIDIA DLI Fundamentals of Deep Learning (open-source materials)
Weeks 1–2 · 10 h
Multimodal data and models Explain contrastive image-text training in CLIP and how shared embedding spaces enable zero-shot classification and retrieval Describe vision-language models, and how audio is turned into spectrograms or tokens for speech models Prepare and align paired data (image-caption, audio-transcript), including resizing, normalisation and tokenisation Use: NVIDIA DLI Building AI Agents With Multimodal Models · OpenAI CLIP on GitHub
Weeks 2–3 · 10 h
Diffusion experimentation and performance (largest share) Explain forward noising and reverse denoising, U-Net vs DiT backbones, latent diffusion and classifier-free guidance Run controlled experiments on sampler, step count and guidance scale, and judge results with FID and CLIP score Speed up inference with mixed precision (FP16/BF16), batching and TensorRT, and know the latency-vs-quality trade-off Hands-on: With diffusers on a free GPU, generate the same prompt at 10, 25 and 50 steps and guidance 3, 7.5 and 12. Time each run in FP32 vs FP16 and put image quality and seconds per image in one table.
Use: Hugging Face Diffusion Models Course · Hugging Face diffusers on GitHub
Weeks 3–4 · 6 h
Building multimodal applications Build a pipeline that captions or answers questions about images and combines the result with text retrieval Use pandas to analyse dataset balance and spot gaps (e.g. under-represented classes or caption lengths) Hands-on: Use a vision-language model endpoint on build.nvidia.com to caption 20 of your own photos, embed the captions, and build a text search that returns the right photo.
Use: NVIDIA API catalog (build.nvidia.com)
Week 4 · 6 h
Trustworthy AI, practice and review Cover deepfake risk, watermarking, consent and bias in generated images using the suggested readings, since NVIDIA lists no course for this domain Re-quiz Experimentation (25%) and Core ML (20%), and practise answering 50 questions in 60 minutes Use: NCA-GENM exam page and blueprint
You're ready to book when… You can explain how CLIP and latent diffusion work on a whiteboard You have run your own steps and guidance experiment and can explain the trade-offs You can name at least three ways to cut diffusion inference latency You score 80% or higher on timed practice sets Exam tips The exam is 60 minutes and remotely proctored. NVIDIA's page lists both 50 and 50-60 questions, so plan for about a minute per question. Experimentation is the largest domain at 25%. NVIDIA maps it, and Performance Optimization, to the Fundamentals of Deep Learning course. Similar certifications Databricks
