Google Agentic Architect vs NVIDIA Agentic AI: Which Agent Cert to Take?

By Kyle Tice · Updated October 19, 2026 · Facts checked against official exam pages

Pick the Google Cloud Professional Agentic Architect if you build agents on Google Cloud and want the hardest proof available, because you must pass hands-on labs, not just a multiple-choice exam. Pick NVIDIA’s NCP-AAI if you want a more framework-neutral agent credential that lasts two years and tests evaluation and deployment broadly. Both are brand new, so check availability before you plan: Google’s general availability is expected mid-November 2026, and NVIDIA’s registration page still showed “coming soon” when we checked in October 2026.

Labs change everything

The most important difference is format.

Google’s exam is a hybrid. You sit a proctored multiple-choice exam through Pearson, then complete hands-on labs on Google Skills. Google is blunt about it: “Passing the multiple-choice exam alone does not grant certified status.” In the beta, candidates had two months after the exam to finish labs estimated at under five hours. At general availability the multiple-choice part is two hours.

NVIDIA’s NCP-AAI is a conventional online-proctored exam: 60–70 questions in 120 minutes, taken through Certiverse.

Labs make a credential harder to pass by memorising, and that is why we rate the Google cert 5 out of 5 for difficulty, the highest on the site. Employers who know about the lab requirement will read it as evidence that you have actually built something.

Google Professional Agentic Architect sections:

Google has not published weights for these. The structure tells you a lot anyway: it spans the full range from low-code agent builders to custom code, and it includes “using coding agents,” meaning AI-assisted development itself is on the syllabus.

NVIDIA NCP-AAI topics (official weights):

Topic Weight
Agent architecture and design 15%
Agent development 15%
Evaluation and tuning 13%
Deployment and scaling 13%
Cognition, planning and memory 10%
Knowledge integration and data handling 10%
NVIDIA platform implementation 7%
Run, monitor and maintain 5%
Safety, ethics and compliance 5%
Human-AI interaction and oversight 5%

NVIDIA’s listed weights add up to 98%, so expect small adjustments. The surprise is how little is vendor-specific: only 7% is explicitly about NVIDIA’s platform. The rest is general agent engineering, with real weight on evaluation (13%) and memory and planning (10%). If you want an agent credential that is mostly about the craft rather than a cloud console, NVIDIA’s is closer.

Google’s cert is, by contrast, a Google Cloud credential through and through. Expect questions grounded in its agent platform and security model.

Difficulty

If you have shipped agents but not on Google Cloud, NVIDIA’s exam is the more realistic target.

Cost and validity

As of October 2026:

Google Agentic Architect NVIDIA NCP-AAI
Fee $200 at GA ($120 during the Sept 2026 beta) $200
Validity 1 year 2 years
Renewal Annual recertification Retake
Cost per year $200 if renewal costs the full fee $100

Google itself notes that one year is shorter than the two-year validity of most of its professional certifications. That reflects how fast agent tooling changes, but it doubles your cost and effort. Google has not yet said what annual recertification involves, so treat $200 a year as the upper estimate.

NVIDIA’s two-year term and $200 fee give a clear $100 a year.

Employer recognition

We rate both 3 out of 5 for employer demand. Neither has been around long enough to show up in many job posts.

For agent roles, both are secondary to evidence. Show an agent you built with tool use, memory, evaluation and guardrails. Our portfolio projects guide has examples.

Study effort

See our Google Cloud and NVIDIA study guides.

Who should take both

Very few people, given the cost and the one-year cycle on Google’s side. Consider both if you are an agent architect at a firm that deploys on Google Cloud but also runs NVIDIA-based inference on premises. Take NVIDIA’s first: its broader syllabus prepares you for Google’s custom-agent and evaluation sections.

FAQ

Can I get the Google Agentic Architect cert by passing the exam alone?

No. You must pass both the multiple-choice exam and the hands-on labs.

Is NVIDIA NCP-AAI available now?

NVIDIA lists it at $200 and two hours in its catalogue, but its registration button showed “coming soon” in October 2026. Check the official page before you plan.

Why does the Google cert only last one year?

Google says the validity is shorter than its other professional certs. The likely reason is how quickly agent tools change, but Google has not given details on the recertification process.

Which is more vendor-neutral?

NVIDIA’s. Only 7% of its weighted topics are explicitly about NVIDIA’s platform.
